JHGS is proud to be in partnership with the Astra School Centred Initial Teacher Training provider (SCITT), an innovative, Ofsted Outstanding and non-profit organisation which provides outstanding training opportunities for new entrants into the teaching profession.The Astra SCITT is part of the Astra Teaching School Hub, accredited by the DfE as one of only 87 Hubs in the country to offer the 'golden thread' of training and support for teachers at all stages of their career. The National Mathematics & Physics (NMAP) SCITT is England’s only school centred provider of subject specific teacher training in Mathematics and Physics with an enhanced focus on subject knowledge and pedagogy. The NMAP SCITT Programme was developed and is delivered by expert practicing teachers in collaboration with the subject associations. The SCITT’s most recent Ofsted inspection highlights how well we know our trainees as individuals and support them; Ofsted also commented about our well-structured, cohesive and ambitious curriculum. Graduate Teacher of Maths
This is an exciting opportunity for candidates who are considering a career in teaching or in the education sector. You enjoy working with young people and you are passionate about your subject. We are looking for well qualified, aspirational graduates with a Mathematics or Mathematics related degree (2:2 or higher) who want to be a part of our outstanding school.
As a Graduate Intern you will teach Maths to year 7-8 and potentially GCSE classes. You will work under the guidance of the Head of Maths and be supported by Professional Tutors. For the right candidate, there may be the opportunity to complete an in-school teacher training qualification which could lead to Qualified Teacher Status. Full training, support and a comprehensive induction will be provided.
The successful candidate will:
- Enjoy working with young people
- Want to share their passion for Maths and be able to explain mathematical concepts
- Be willing to work with Maths colleagues to develop your confidence in the classroom

Salary Range: Unqualified Teacher Pay Scale £20,598 - £32,134 p.a.

Teacher of Maths
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Mathematics department at John Hampden Grammar School. Starting in September 2024 (or July for ECT’s), the role would suit a knowledgeable and committed ECT or experienced teacher looking for a new challenge working with our incredibly talented and motivated students.
If you feel you have the skills and commitment to support us in getting the best from our students, then we would love to hear from you - a relocation allowance may be available for candidates who apply directly.
