School Report 2015

Students from JHGS will once again be producing real news on 10 March 2016 as they take part in BBC News School Report for the third consecutive year.  We aim to publish the news by 1600 GMT on the News Day, so please watch this space!  In the meantime, take a look at what our budding reporters achieved last year.

JHGS School Reporters have had a very successful day as BBC journalists.

The first step was deciding on the best team. And here they are… You can see some of their applications on the “written report” link.

The Team

The News Day started with half an hour of intense news finding: what would be the best stories to cover? Where were the best hooks? How could we connect it to our own experience?

We then compiled our stories on to a big board (named Steve), and had an Editorial Meeting to decide which would work most effectively. After weighing up the pros and cons, we settled on four terrific topics.

And so the reporting commenced! We searched out the best people to interview;

Matt and Luca

Created images to improve the quality of our features;

Researched our stories in greater depth;

Internet research

Wrote and practised our scripts...

Team work

All the while appreciating the shout-outs from the BBC School Report Twitter Feed and website!

Shout Outs

What seemed like minutes after the day had begun, the deadline was upon us! Which meant we needed to make last minute edits to the films…

Upload everything to the website…

And celebrate our having reached the deadline!

A fantastic job: very well done to everyone involved!
