Information for New Year 7 Joiners - September 2026

County Transistion Day

We look forward to welcoming your son to John Hampden for the County Transition Day on Tuesday, 7th July. Please note the following important information regarding the day. Your son should:

Wear his current school uniform.

Bring a pair of trainers to change into later in the day, in a small bag/rucksack.

Bring a small pencil case with 2 writing pens and 2 pencils, alongside a notepad.

Bring a packed lunch, a small snack and his water bottle.

If it is sunny, please ensure that he has applied sun cream before he arrives.

There will be absolutely no parking on site, nor any drop-off in the school entrance, or on the road outside, as this creates a hazard for other road users. You may use the Handy Cross Bus Hub car park across the road for up to 30 minutes, and there are plenty of safe crossing points available. Please consider walking or car sharing if you are able.

Drop off time at the school is 9.30am. Please do not bring your son to the school before 9.20am, there will be no one to look after him before that time. Drop off will be outside reception. Collection will be from the back of our Innovation Hub at 2.55pm. Please do not arrive before 2.45pm.

Please note that your son will not be able to leave the school unaccompanied, or with another parent, unless you have emailed in advance. Please email office@jhgs.bucks.sch.uk, for the attention of Ms Jefferson, if this is the case. Please also email for the attention of Ms Jefferson if your son will not be able to attend.

Mobile Phones

Year 7 and Year 8 are not permitted smartphones.  Non internet enabled phones may be used to and from school but are locked in lockers for the duration of the school day and never used on the premises.

The school's Chromebook programme is launched to parents at the start of the Spring term of Year 7, where all information regarding device requirements are explained in detail.

For new starters to the school there is no need to obtain a device ahead of this time, although if a parent wishes to purchase a device for their child in advance they are advised to view the Chromebook information on the school website here.
